Maconaquah’s Daisy Williams Finishes 25th At State Finals

Senior Daisy Williams ended her stellar golf career at Maconaquah with a 25th place finish at the Indiana State Girls Golf Championship October 4th & 5th at Prairie View Golf Course.

If there was a way to describe her day one, it would be ball striking. Daisy hit long accurate drives, played smart layups off the tee to avoid fairway bunkers. Her approach shots were played to the correct part of the green to allow her to have the best chance at par and birdie. Daisy had at least six putts for birdie under 15 feet and made three of them. Daisy ended the first day in a tie for 6th place.

Day two summary would be fortitude. Daisy struggled a bit off of the tee which made scoring a challenge on the long Prairie View Golf Club lay out. Daisy showed her resolve though as her round came to a close by playing the last four holes in two under and doing so in dramatic fashion. She parred the challenging par three 15th hole after hitting a great tee shot. On the 16th hole she laid up,short of the bunkers, then had her second shot hit the flagstick and stop a few feet away. She tapped in for birdie and moved to 17. On 17 her second shot landed on the green, but backed up 20 feet off the green. She chipped close and made another par. On her final college hole she hit a smart drive and lay up on the par five. She then hit a wedge to 25 feet. Then in a storybook ending the 25 foot put went in to conclude her second round,

Her final two day tally of 160 secured her a tie for 25th place out of a field of 109 at the State Finals and over 3,000 that started in sectionals.
